Late in the afternoon in May, after a two and a half hour drive from Page Arizona, I arrived at this overlook point about 800 feet above Lake Powell. As the sun got lower, it lit up the rock formations like Gunsight Butte (left/middle) and Navajo Mountain on the horizon beyond. I was fortunate to be there just as a rain cloud was moving over the town of Page, AZ and the Glen Canyon Dam. With the warm afternoon light, and a wide angle lens, I was able to highlight the well know landmark of Gunsight Butte, while holding the dramatic sky and using the soft warm light on the foreground to complete this compelling image of one of my favorite places in all of the Southwest.
